Dynamic signal analyzer makes vibration testing highly portable
Small, multichannel USB module and software let laptops make lab-quality measurements in the field
The compact 600 series multichannel dynamic signal analyzers can make measurements which, in the past, only specialist could perform in a laboratory setting. They thus establish a new paradigm for shock and vibration monitoring, NVH measurements, and rotating machinery analysis on the go and in the field.
The series consists initially of two models: the 640 and the 650. The 640-intended for measuring shock, vibration, and acoustic signals-has four IEPE-capable analog input channels with a range of ±10 V. It also has a programmable ±10-V analog output (24-bit resolution) that can be used for source excitation, generating continuous or swept sine-wave signals, as well as random, burst, and arbitrary signals. The 650 model has five analog inputs (four of which are IEPE capable) with an input range of ±40 V, particularly useful for higher-voltage sensors such as proximity sensors.
Both models operate at rates to 40 kHz with 24-bit A/D converters on the input channels, and have 8-bit digital I/O port. The inputs provide -100-dB typ total harmonic distortion, 0.12° channel-to-channel phase matching, ac/dc coupling, and TEDS and IEPE support.
Four eZ series software packages are available-eZ-Analyst, eZ-TOMAS, eZ-Balance, and eZ-NDT-each tailored to a particular type of vibration measurement and analysis application, and each available separately. The Windows-compatible software runs on a laptop or desktop PC to simplify set-up and analyze of sophisticated tests, and the analyzer's USB 2.0 port provides high-speed continuous 24-bit data transfer. (Modules, $5,999 each; software packages, $3,999 each-available now.)
