Dynamic tilt sensor module packs accelerometers, gyros, and temp sensor

Delivers advanced calibration and correction algorithms for accurate 3D acceleration, rate, and pitch-and-roll measurement

By Gina Roos, editor-in-chief

ACEINNA has launched a MEMS-based, dynamic tilt sensor module that combines accelerometers, gyroscopes, and a temperature sensor with advanced calibration and correction algorithms, providing accurate 3D acceleration, 3D rate, and pitch-and-roll measurement in moving vehicle applications. The module is completely sealed with an integrated connector, making it suitable for rugged construction, off-road, and agriculture applications.

The MTLT305D sensor module uses advanced sensor fusion (Extended Kalman Filtering) and calibration algorithms to achieve 0.5° tilt and 50K hours. The plastic housing is durable under hazardous environments for both IP68 and IP69K ratings.

The module also features CAN J1939 and RS232 interfaces for network connectivity. It includes an Ampseal 16, six-position connector and supports a wide 4.9-V to 32-V supply input range (qualified for use in both 12-V and 24-V vehicle platforms).

The MTLT305D supports industry-standard SAE J1939 messaging over the CAN bus, and the ACEINNA NAV-VIEW software is said to provide a simple-to-use graphical interface to display, record, play back, and analyze all of the MTLT305D parameters over the RS232 port. Designers can also use the software to set user-configurable fields in the MTLT305D to optimize the system performance for various dynamic applications.

The MTLT305D is available directly from ACEINNA and its distribution network.
