Dyson, the company best known for high-end vacuums, hand dryers, and bladeless fans, has officially entered the lighting market with LEDs designed to last close to four decades.

In a release announcing the company’s plans to enter the lighting market, the CSYS task light and Ariel ceiling light were detailed as having a new technology that resolves overheating problems that many existing LED lights suffer from.
“We’ve been developing technology to harness the power of LEDs for over ten years, creating lights for the home which are long-lasting and produce a high quality of light,” Jake Dyson, James Dyson's son who is joining the company, said. “Our cooling technology sits at the core, and means we’re able to use a high density, high powered LED light source which our competitors can’t.”
Specifically, these lights use “heat pipe technology, which dissipates heat generated by the LEDs through an aluminum heat sink.” The company said the technology was inspired by satellite cooling systems, and that it allows the LEDs to be more energy efficient, brighter, and last up to 37 years.
In terms of design, the CSYS task light features eight LEDs along with a touch-sensitive control panel that allows the user to set their illumination levels to very specific levels.
The Ariel ceiling light, meanwhile, is designed for kitchen islands, conference room tables, and offices.
There was neither a release date nor any pricing information in the release, however, if the prices of the company’s other products should serve as any indication, prospective purchasers should expect to pay a high price for this new line of Dyson product.
