Rugged, flexible silicone rubber boots give handheld enclosures high-visibility color, comfortable feel.
Like covers seen on the latest MP3 players, the VM Boot adds style to enclosures while helping protect them from nicks, scuffs, and scratches as well as damage due to accidental dropping. Unlike other protective boots for commercial cases, the silicone rubber covers are lightweight and highly flexible, with a silky finish that lets them slip easily onto enclosures.
Available in black, red, and blue, the soft-feeling boots are designed to fit 1.0 x 4.625 x 2.85-in. and 1.0 x 5.50 x 3.25-in. VM series UL 94-5VA ABS enclosures, which are available in black or bone with textured or infrared-transparent end panels and compartments for a 9-V or two AA batteries. The covers leave the cases’ recessed keypad/display and end-panel areas open for use.
With an average thickness of approximately 0.1 in., the boot has reinforced corners—to prevent case chipping and prevent tearing, even with repeated removal and replacement—and beveled edges for comfort. The cover also provides sure-grip sides and small, post-like feet on its back to help grip a surface on which the case is placed.
Molded-in slots on the back allow attachment to a belt or mounting straps. (Boot, $3.68 ea/500; enclosures, from $3.79 ea/500—available now.)
