Eaton launches automotive-grade power inductors

The high-current power inductors address the need for increased power conversion and filtering requirements in the transportation market

By Gina Roos, editor-in-chief

Eaton has released a new line of automotive-grade, high-current power inductors that are tested beyond AEC-Q200 Grade 1 requirements. The HCM1AV2 line is available in 10 standard sizes and printed-circuit-board (PCB) footprints from 4 mm to 22 mm.

The HCM1AV2 can withstand high vibration and shock conditions thanks to its molded construction. The advanced construction combined with high-grade materials also allows the power inductors to withstand high temperature and high humidity environments in many automotive electronic systems.

Addressing the need for increased power conversion and filtering requirements in the transportation market, the power inductors offer high current capability up to 100 A, lower direct current resistance (DCR), low electromagnetic interference (EMI), high voltage isolation, low core losses, soft saturation (roll-off) and high stability across the operating temperature range.

The HCM1AV2 inductors are  AEC-Q200 Automotive Grade 1 compliant, with a maximum operating temperature range of -55°C to 155°C (ambient plus self-temperature rise).

Samples can be requested at  Eaton.com/electronics or can be purchased through the company’s authorized distributors.
