EEPROMs have MAC ID and a serial number

The AT24MAC series of 2 Kbit serial EEPROMs provide pre-programmed MAC/Extended Unique Identifier (EUI) node identity addresses, making it simpler to develop Internet-connected products of all types. The AT24MAC also includes a factory programmed read-only serial number that can help simplify inventory control and provide product traceability. Another EEPROM series, the AT24CS, available in densities of 1-Kbit to 8-Kbit, has just the serial number.

The AT24MAC602 devices provide 64-bit EUI addresses while the AT24MAC402 devices have 48-bit MAC/EUI addresses. They operate from 1.7 to 5.5 V, at 400 kHz with 1.7 V or 1 MHz with 2.5 V. Endurance is over 1,000,000 write cycles and supply current is 0.4 ma in read, 2 ma in write, and 2 µA in standby, typical. ($0.22 to $0.24 ea/5,000 – samples available now.)
