Switch market sales grow in North America and Europe
Throughout the years we have covered a variety of switches. The most common types covered are keylock, pushbutton, DIP, reed, rocker, rotary, slide, snap action, tact, and toggle. We have also covered navigation switches and switches with joystick capability. A quick search on the electronicproducts.com Web site will show the hundreds of switches announced over the years.
A market analysis from the TTI Web site (under the MarketEye Research Center*), http://www.ttiinc.com/object/me_schwert_20100713.html, notes that in North America and Europe switch sales have grown 13% and 25%, respectively.
The report says that the total sales for all switch types in North America for the first quarter of 2010 has grown 13% over the previous quarter and 31% over the first quarter of 2009. Sales units for the first quarter of 2010 ran 10% above the fourth quarter of 2009 and 39% more than the first quarter last year. (The above link shows a sales growth table by switch type.)
The European market shows better quarter-over-quarter sales over North America. The switch market starts 2010 with sales jumping 25% more than in the fourth quarter of 2009 and 16% better than the first quarter of 2009.
