More than 72,000 trade visitors from 76 countries are expected to attend this year’s electronica, the International Trade Fair for Electronic Components, Systems, and Applications in Munich, Germany. Almost 2,600 exhibitors from 46 countries will be showing their latest innovations. The fair will be open Tuesday, November 13, through Friday, November 16. At the last electronica, in 2010, the huge show spread out over 142,500 square-meters of exhibition space.
“Smart energy solutions” is one of the main themes of electronica 2012. The industry’s leading manufacturers from around the world will present their solutions and products in the sectors for energy efficiency, energy storage, LEDs, and smart grids. Another one of the fairs themes centers around trends in electromobility. More than 1,000 exhibitors will present technologies and products for the automotive sector. In the automotive forum, industry experts will provide insights into technologies and markets that are relevant to actual practice.
Here are just a few of the products on display that may interest you:
Maxim Integrated Products (California, USA) will announce several essential HetNet solutions needed for next-generation base-station equipment. The solutions include single-chip multiband radio transceivers, broadband gain blocks, direct RF synthesis DACs, and intelligent, digital, point-of-load controllers. Maxim also will show the MAX36025, a tamper-reactive cryptographic-node controller that has two hardware AES engines and that targets secure encryption for critical points of data aggregation within the smart grid.
RIGOL Technologies (China) will introduce the DS2000 series digital oscilloscope with some breakthrough technologies from the analog front end to the trigger unit. The scope delivers comprehensive trigger functions and advanced real-time waveform record, replay, search, and analysis functions. The oscilloscopes bandwidth ranges from 70 to 200 MHz and it features 500 uV/div to 10 V/div sensitivity with full bandwidth.
ROHM Semiconductor (Germany) will have its new silicon carbide Schottky barrier diodes that are said to have the industry’s lowest VF for reduced power dissipation in PV power conditioners, industrial equipment, and servers.
Sensirion AG (Switzerland) will be showing the SHT21 humidity and temperature sensor for mobile devices, which features power dissipation of just 3.2 µW. sample code for the complete integration of the sensor into Android 4.0 is available.
CUI (Oregon, USA) will announce 12 new ac/dc encapsulated power modules for space-constrained applications. The 1-W VSK-S1 series and 2-W VSK-S2 series feature an ultracompact 33.7 x 22.2 x 18-mm package. They have no-load power consumption of only 100 mW, and an input range of 85 to 305 Vac. The modules have efficiency of up tp 78% and operates over 25 to 70C with output voltages of 3.3, 5, 9, 12, 15, and 24 Vdc.
Syfer Technology (UK) will showcase its StackiCap high-voltage X7R Multilayer chip capacitors, which come in 1812 and 2220 case sizes, with 200-V to 1-kV and 500 to 3-kV operating voltage ranges, respectively. Claiming an industry first, Syfer’s 2220 500-V device features 1-µF capacitance. The 3-kV part offers an impressive 33 nF.
