Embedded Linux pkg updates security, connectivity

The Mentor Embedded Linux (MEL) platform has been updated to Yocto 2.0 and expanded to include new security features and additional industrial protocols. It features Wurldtech Achilles Communications certification Level 1 and Level 2, an industry benchmark for securing industrial connected devices.

The packages simplified mandatory access control kernel (SMACK) kernel security module protects data and process interactions from malicious manipulation. The platform adds protocols for CANopen, IEEE 1588 Precision Time Protocol, BACNet, and IoT links 6LoWPAN, XMPP, CoAP and MQTT. It also adds support for additional processors, including NXP TWR-LS1021A, Xilinx Zynq ZC702ED, ZedBoard, NXP i.MX6 SABRE Series, and NXP i.MX 6Solo. Available now.
