Embedded wireless radio plus MCU offers highest performance
Combined solution reduces power and lowers system cost
The EZRadioPRO embedded wireless radio family together with the C8051F9xx series low-power MCU are claimed to offer the industry’s highest performance while reducing system cost. According to the company, the EZRadioPRO family delivers the highest single-chip output power at up to 20 dBm and industry-leading sensitivity of −118 dBm. By integrating an LNA and PA, the solution eliminates the need for expensive external components, resulting in a BOM savings of approximately $0.50 to $1.00.
Housed in 20-pin QFN packages, the EZRadioPRO integrates embedded antenna diversity capabilities to automatically choose the most effective antenna. In addition, the radio family operates from 240 to 960 MHz and supports built-in packet handling, wake-up timers, temperature sensing, and low-battery detection.
Capable of operating down to 0.9 V, the C8051F9xx family integrates a dc/dc controller in a 24- or 32-pin QFN package and can supply up to 65 mW of power to the MCU and EZRadioPRO device — enabling a complete single-cell battery-powered radio/MCU solution. In addition, a complete professional wireless development suite is provided that includes reference code, schematics, and Gerber files as well as an easy-to-use GUI to help designers configure the radio for quick lab evaluations. (Ea/10,000: EZRadioPRO, from $1.14 to $3.30; C8051F9xx, from $1.99 — samples available now.)
