Emerson Network Power Launches High Efficiency 250 Watt AC-DC Power Supplies

CARLSBAD, Calif. – August 28, 2008 – Emerson Network Power, a business of Emerson (NYSE: EMR) and the global leader in enabling Business-Critical Continuity, has launched a new series of high efficiency 250 watt ac-dc power supplies that feature both ITE and non-patient contact and non-patient critical medical safety approvals. The new LPS200-M series power supplies are compact open-frame designs; measuring just 3 x 5 inches, with a height of only 1.5 inches, they have a typical full load efficiency of 88 percent and a power density in excess of 11 watts per cubic inch. The supplies are primarily intended for use in information technology equipment (ITE) and light industrial systems, as well as for equipment intended for non-patient contact and non-patient critical use in low power medical, dental and laboratory applications.

LPS200-M series power supplies feature a universal 90-264 Vac input – enabling them to be used anywhere in the world – and are also capable of operating from a 120-300 Vdc input. The series comprises two power supplies; the LPS203-M, which has a 12 Vdc main output, and the LPS205-M, which has a 24 Vdc main output. The 12 V model can deliver up to 10.3 A continuously with convection cooling, or up to 20.8 A continuously with 30 CFM forced air cooling, while the 24 V model is rated at 5.2 A continuous with convection cooling and 10.4 A continuous with 30 CFM forced air cooling. The main output of each model can be adjusted up to 10 percent either side of nominal, and is tightly regulated to within ±2 percent for all line and load conditions. Remote sense facilities are provided to compensate for a drop of up to 0.5 V between the output terminals and the load.

In addition to their main output, both the LPS203-M and LPS205-M also produce an isolated 12 Vdc fan output; capable of delivering up to 1 A, this output is regulated to within ±5 percent.

Active power factor correction is employed to minimize input harmonic current distortion and ensure compliance with the international EN61000-3-2 standard – LPS200-M series supplies have a power factor of 0.99 typical. Both power supplies have a maximum safety-ground leakage current of 275 µA, and have a main output hold-up time of 16 ms minimum when fed with a 120 Vac input and delivering 250 watts of output power.

LPS200-M series power supplies are comprehensively protected against overvoltage, overtemperature and short-circuit conditions, and feature a ‘power fail’ signal for remote monitoring purposes which will change state at least 6 ms before the main output loses regulation. The power supplies have a full load ambient operating temperature range of 0 to +50 Celsius without de-rating and can cold-start from temperatures as low as -20 degrees Celsius. Between 50 and 70 degrees Celsius, the output should be derated by 2.5 percent per degree.

Emerson Network Power’s LPS200-M series ac-dc power supplies comply with the rigorous EN55022-B and FCC part 15 Level B EMC standards for conducted noise and meet all applicable immunity standards, including EN61000-4-2, -3, -4, -5, -6, -8 and -11 levels 3. The power supplies carry a wide set of safety approvals, including UL/TUV/CSA 60950-1 and non-patient contact and non-patient critical 60601-1.

LPS200-M series ac-dc power supplies are available for immediate delivery. Standard lead-time is stock to 8 weeks. Pricing starts at US$140.00 in OEM quantities.
