Emulation systems offer lowest cost/gate available
Entry-level products support emulation of ASICs under 60,000 gates
The LC/60 and LCX/60 members of the company's Enterprise family of
emulation systems are offered as the most cost effective and lowest priced
such systems available. The products are intended to support emulation of
application-specific ICs and standard products under 60,000 gates, as well
as large ICs and single-chip microcomputers that use up to 60,000 gates of
custom logic designed around core microprocessor cells. Like the
company's 330,000-gate-capacity Enterprise Emulation System, the new
systems use a hierarchical multiplexed architecture and a custom
interconnect IC for fast emulation speeds and compilation times. In
addition, for debugging, the systems use the company's new 16-MHz 256- or
512-channel logic analyzer.
The systems accommodate up to eight configurable Memory Emulation
Modules with an individual capacity of 2 Mbytes each. The company's
plug-in Component Adapters can also be used to emulate any standard block
of logic available in packaged chip form or as a bonded-out core ccell.
All those elements can be swapped among members of the Enterprise family.
The LC/60 is configured with a 256-channel logic analyzer and Precision
Emulation software including Hierarchical Timing-Driven Partitioning. The
LCX/60 adds Modular Emulation software–a superset of the Precision
Emulation software that uses a modular database structure suited for high-level design and synthesis tools. (LC/60, $114,500; LCX/60, $139,
500–available 3rd qtr.) Quickturn Systems, Inc. Mountain View, CA
