Today's IC and test and burn-in sockets and adapters come in many shapes
and sizes to help designers solve many prototyping, test, and burn-in
problems. Here's a look at some of the latest products
Emulator adapters for Intel microprocessor Emulator adapters are now
available for the Intel i960 family of embedded microprocessors. They
convert an i960 PGA or PLCC emulator pod into the QFP footprint of an i950
embedded microprocessor, simplifying prototyping. The adapters come in
surface-mountable, socketable, or clip-on versions. They are available for
80-, 132-, and 196-pin QFPs. (Clip-on, surface-mount, and socketable
versions: 80-pin QFP, $480; 132-pin QFP, $680; 196-pin QFP, $750–10 days
