The MAX3815A 2.25-Gbit/s automatic cable equalizer for HDMI v1.3 TMDS applications can compensate for 0 to 35 m of 24-AWG or 0 to 22 m of 28-AWG HDMI cable, running TMDS data at 2.25 Gbits/s. The device is compatible with HDTV resolutions of 720p, 1080i, 1080p, and 1080p, with 30- to 36-bit color.
The chip features three differential data channels, one clock channel, and an LOS output, and operates from a 3.3-V supply, taking 0.6 W. The IC can also be operated in a low-power mode, in which the output swings to one-half the DVI specification. This mode is useful in shorter-reach, chip-to-chip communications.
