Each year, Apple hosts the Worldwide Developers Conference, or WWDC as it’s acronymically known. The point of it is to give the executives and thought leaders at the company a stage upon which to discuss or otherwise announce updates and new products.
While there are several companies that host similar get-togethers, what makes Apple’s so news worthy is the consistency with which these conferences seem churn out what ends up being industry-disrupting software and hardware technologies.
This includes new versions of the iPhone, updates to the MacBooks; even upgrades to the company’s operating systems spark days of analysis by technology publications afterward. We’ve also seen announcements of new products like iCloud, FaceTime, and iTunes Radio in the past.
This year was no different—in addition to upgrades to iOS and OS X, Apple announces the launch of its new streaming music service as well as a software developer kit for the Apple Watch.
