Examples of medical VCAs

For use in a ventilator, the LA16 VCA from BEI Kimco weighs only 10.7 ounces and is 1.6 in. in diameter, thereby minimizing additional weight to the overall machine.  Even smaller — by roughly 75% ‒ the LAH08 VCA, is just 2.3 ounces in total weight and 0.75 in. in diameter — again an ideal size for fulfilling ventilator requirements.

The LAH04-10-000A housed Linear Voice Coil moving magnet actuator shown here covers the size ranges from 0.375 to 2.4 in. in outside diameter, with a wide selection of stroke lengths and peak forces, and can be fully customized. It delivers a maximum peak force of nearly 0.5 pounds with an outside diameter of just 0.375 in. With a total weight of 0.37 ounces, it produces over 20 times its own weight in terms of force with an operating stroke of 4 mm (0.157 in.).
