XP Power has developed four external power supply series that enable products to meet new EU and US environmental and energy efficiency regulations, which come into force this year.
The VEC40, VEC50, VEC65 and VES90 series of external AC-DC power supplies all comply with the new DoE level VI (US) and CoC Tier 2 (EU) regulations, drawing less than 0.15 Watts for the VEC50 , VEC65 & VES90 and less than 0.075 Watt for the lower power VEC40 when in standby, offering average active mode efficiency of 89% or higher and exceeding the 10% load efficiency standard in the EU CoC Tier 2 requirements.
CoC Tier 2 came into force on 1st January 2016, and DoE Level VI takes effect on the 10th February 2016. These new requirements reduce the no-load power to less than 0.15 Watts (50-250 Watt supplies, 0.075 Watts for 1-49 Watt supplies) and push the market towards a flatter efficiency curve, with efficiency readings now required at 10, 25, 50, 75 and 100% of load.
