Farsens unveils the Stella, a battery free RFID tag including an LED

A user can now visually identify an item by searching a unique ID. The Stella RFID tag will flash its LED when the RFID reader is searching for its ID number.

The Stella from Farsens S.L., San Sebastián, Spain is a new battery free RFID tag equipped with a LED. Compatible with commercial EPC C1G2 compliant readers, when the reader is asking for a specific ID number, the Stella will flash its LED if it is within the reader read range.

The Stella has a 96 bits EPC number, a 32 bit TID and a password protected Kill command. Built in a PCB format, it is available in different sizes. The read range is up to 1.5 meters and the operating temperatures are from -30°C to +85°C (-22°F to +185°F).

Tagging items with the Stella, users will quickly find a specific item. When dealing with tagged inventories, the user only needs to insert the desired ID in the reader software and get close to the assets. Only the tag with the selected ID will flash its LED, so the user will easily detect it and pick it up.

Farsens designs and manufactures full passive RFID sensor solutions. Their proprietary UHF RFID IC allows Farsens to develop long range solutions for asset tracking – via the unique ID – and monitoring – via the attached sensor – without the need of any battery on the tag.
