Fast 800 Gbyte PCIe SSD targets data centers
Targeting rigorous data center storage demands driven by cloud computing, virtualization, and online transactions, the SSD 910 PCIe solid state disk drive card provides 400 or 800 Gbyte capacity with up to 2 Gbyte/s sequential reads and 1 Gbyte/s sequential writes. The half-height/half-length PCIe 2.0 x8 card takes 25 W typical active and 8.5 W typical in idle.
The drive uses 25 nm MLC flash and will yield 10 full drive writes a day for 5 years – said to be a 30x endurance improvement over current drives. The SSD features 65 µs read/write latency and performs 90,000/180,000 4K random read IOPS (400/800 Gbyte versions) and 38,000/75,000 4K random write IOPS. ($1,929, 400 Gbyte; $3,859, 800 Gbyte — available June or July)
