Fast Intel Core M processor takes only 4.5 W

The Intel Core M (Broadwell M-5Y70) processor targets new thin tablets and 2-in-1 devices. It takes only 4.5 W and is built on a 14 nm process. The dual core CPU enables up to 50% faster compute performance. It includes a new specialized DSP dedicated for audio media playback and voice interaction.

The CPU includes Turbo Boost, Hyper-Threading, a 4 Mbyte L3 cache, a DDR3L memory controller, vPro technology, an advanced encryption standard, a new power optimizer, a hardware random number generator, BIOS Guard security, HD audio, USB 3.0, SATA 6 Gbits/s, eSATA, PCIe 2.0, and Gbit Ethernet. It is said to have 2x higher performance than a Core i5-520UM – which takes 18 W. For 3D graphics this advantage widens to 7x. A new multichip package has an almost 50% smaller footprint than 4th Gen Core processors. ~$281 ea/1,000.
