Fast, low cost MCU targets motor control

The LPC1549 and LPC1519 microcontrollers are optimized for fast, easy, precision motor control. They can handle sensored and sensorless brushless DC, permanent-magnet synchronous, and AC induction motors. Both can handle two motors and the LCP1549 includes a USB port.

The ICs use a 72 MHz Cortex-M3 core with up to 256 Kbytes of flash, 4 Kbytes of EEPROM, and 36 Kbytes of SRAM, dual 12-bit 12-channel 2 Ms/s A/D converters and a quadrature encoder interface. The chips four 68 ns propagation delay comparators enable fast over-current/voltage protection and four SCTimer/PWM timers provide up to 28 PWM channels. Versions with less memory are available. $1.91 to $3.25 ea/10,000.
