Taiwan Semiconductor has announced the availability of its RS2x family (RS2DFS – RS2MFS and RS2DAL – RS2MAL) of fast recovery rectifiers. These 2A-rated diodes offer reverse voltage ratings of 200 V and 1 KV, available in either a SOD-128 for improved thermal dissipation or thin SMA package with a lower profile.
“The combination of medium (200 V) and high (1 KV) ratings and identical performance in a pair of compatible packages enables design efficiency and manufacturing flexibility,” said Sam Wang, vice president, TSC Products, in a statement.
A key feature of the RS2x family is the low forward voltage drop (maximum Vf of 1.06 V @ Tj=25°C, Vr=1000 V / 1.01 V @ Tj=25°C, Vr+200 V) that improves efficiency and thermal performance.
The fast switching and reverse recovery times of the devices increase efficiency in a variety of medium- to high-voltage applications, said TSC. Together, these features also lower EMI/RFI and simplify snubber and filtering design.
Rectification, blocking, and freewheeling applications include enclosed and open frame power supplies and power electronic conversion systems used in automotive, industrial, telecom-datacom-networking systems, LED lighting, battery charging systems, UPS, and inverters.
All parts are AEC-Q automotive qualified. They also are RoHS compliant and halogen-free (per IEC-61249-2-21) as well as compliant with WEEE, REACH, California Prop. 65, and JESD-201 Class 2 Whisker Test. The devices are priced at $0.0852 in OEM quantities. Samples are in stock at Digi-Key and Mouser. Lead times for production quantities is eight weeks, ARO.
