Said to have the industry’s fastest data transmission rate, the 100-Mbit/s ISL3259E RS-485/RS-422 transceiver also provides 15 kV IEC61000-4-2 ESD protection. The chip comes in space-saving 3 x 3-mm or 8-lead MSOP packages and needs only 2.6 mA of supply current.
The transceivers output differential voltage drive is 40% greater then specified by the RS-485 protocol. The device also has a full fail-safe receiver, current limiting and thermal shutdown for driver overload protection, and hot-plug transmitter and receiver outputs. ($1.33 ea/1,000available now.)
