FET driver targets 3-phase BLDC motors

The TMC6130-LA high-current motor driver for compact and efficient BLDC designs will drive  N-FETs in a 3-phase circuit that handles up to 1.5 kW. The 5 x 5 mm IC works from 4.5 to 28 V at -40° to 125°C. EEPROM configuration reduces the pin count to only 32.

The device has a high gain bandwidth current sense amplifier that yields fast settling time with low noise. A combination of bootstrap and charge pump enables driving six N-FETs, with gate charges up to 400 nC and minimum device self-heating. The device works well with the Bosch B6 power module. An 80 x 115 mm evaluation board (TMC6130-EVAL) is available.
