FFC/FPC connectors meet high-reliability, small-pitch requirements

Molex has unveiled two FFC/FPC connectors , targeting automotive and television display applications that require high-reliability and small-pitch connectors. The connectors are offered in 0.5-mm and 1.0-mm pitch forms, which reduce overall space, weight, and cost, said Molex.

The Easy-On FFC/FPC connectors feature a double-bottom contact terminal design, which takes away dust and other environmental contaminants more effectively than single-bottom contact terminals. With a vacuum pick-and-place area located on top of the housing, the connectors pave the way for simple assembly, which leads to decreased costs. They also come with a cable ear-tab locking terminal to ensure a secure connection.

Yosuke Terui, Molex’s global product manager, said that the Easy-On FFC/FPC connectors offer a lightweight product form, as well as a secure signal, which provides a high level of reliability, necessary in applications like consumer goods, medical applications, and the automotive industry. “The variety of solutions available with this product serves the widest possible range of connectors for tight packaging applications,” he said.

For greater flexibility, both connector sizes offer a heat-resistant resin housing and range of four to 80 circuits spread across numerous profile heights. In addition, the 0.5-mm connector offers single and double contacts for added versatility in circuit size, height, and cable styles.
