Fiber-optic isolators suit high-voltage apps

The OPI1270 Series axial fiber-optic isolators enable isolation of high-voltage I/O circuits over varying distances. The isolators comprise a visible red LED emitter and a phototransistor detector in separate opaque molded plastic modules linked by a shrouded optical cable in standard isolation distances of 18, 26, 32, 40, 66, and 80 mm.

The isolators are rated for 15 kV and carry a power dissipation rating of 100 mW. Operating temperature range is –20° to 75°C, and the device is compatible with high-temperature soldering processes of 260C. ($3.22 ea/10,000—stock to 8 weeks ARO.)
