Filter,ESD-protection IC enhances performance

Measuring 1.5 x 1.7 mm, the EMIF04-EAR02M8 filtering and ESD-protection IC can replace a network of discrete components or two separate ICs, normally designed into the music player’s headset-connection circuitry. This device protects against ESD spikes up to 30 kV in direct contact with the signal connections.

High attenuation of signals at frequencies from 900 to 1900 MHz allows use in handsets for all cellular standards, as well as multiband products, without lengthy fine-tuning of each design. Available in a micro-QFN 8-lead package, the device offers a low-resistance earphone circuitry of 0.3 Ω. ($0.24 ea/10,000 — available now.)
