First of its kind smart rifle that almost never misses, wins an Inspiration Award

This next-generation isn’t even available in the military

The TrackingPoint smart rifle is a monumental feat in technology, infusing the power of “smart-tech” into a high-powered rifle, effectively creating the world’s first precise guided firearm. This beast takes into account wind, shake, and distance, only firing after each variable lines up. We at Electronic Products believe technology is amoral, and innovation is innovation regardless of context. For this reason, we commend Jason Schauble, president of TrackingPoint, with a 2013 Inspiration Award.

The rifle features a built-in laser ranger finder, ballistics computer, and Wi-Fi transmitter, to not only line up the perfect shot, but to also film it and upload to social media. Schauble says they rifle is aimed at a younger, tech savvy audience, specifically comprising of hunters and target shooters. It won’t be commercially available from anywhere other than the company itself.

By completely removing the gun dealer from the equation, the firm can audit individual customers. And with price tag of $22,000 a pop, the firearm will not be widely accessible. Perhaps it can be summed up in the cheesy words of the poorly written dialogue from first Spiderman film, “with great power comes great responsibility” because TrackingPoint has gone through great strides to ensure safety. Assuming the rifle was stolen, the assailant cannot access its precision tagging system without a password.
