Flash memory and BLE MCU combo targets IIoT edge devices

Dialog’s FusionHD flash memory is compatible and qualified for use with the company’s SmartBond DA1469x Bluetooth Low Energy MCUs.

Dialog Semiconductor plc announced its FusionHD NOR flash memories, via its recent acquisition of Adesto Technologies, are fully compatible and qualified for use with Dialog’s SmartBond DA1469x family of Bluetooth low energy (BLE) microcontrollers (MCUs). Together, designers can deploy the latest Bluetooth technology while maintaining low power consumption for a wide range of connected industrial and consumer applications.

Dialog FusionHD NOR flash memoryThe FusionHD non-volatile memory devices extend a system’s battery life without sacrificing power or performance and offers a low power 7 nA sleep mode, which suits the DA1469x family of wireless MCUs for IoT and industrial products.

The combination of the two products demonstrates the synergy between the wireless connectivity portfolio and new NOR flash memory to provide differentiated solutions, according to Raphael Mehrbians, VP of Industrial Business at Dialog.

The SmartBond DA1469x family supports complex applications with extremely low power consumption, and a rich feature-set that includes a sensor node controller (SNC), advanced power management unit, software programmable protocol engine, advanced multi-level security, and a high level of integration. The DA1469x devices provide the processing power, resources, range, and battery life needed for today’s IoT product designs, said the company.

FusionHD supports the code storage and data logging requirements for wearables, hearables, sensor edge devices, and industrial IoT edge devices. The devices are suited for BLE-enabled IoT applications, delivering fast data transfer, security features, high-reliability operation, over-the-air updates and power consumption that is up to 70% lower than comparable serial flash products, according to the company.

FusionHD also delivers high-performance QSPI operation with continuous read XiP capability that allows direct code execution from the host DA1469x MCUs, said Dialog. Visit here to download flash drivers for the FusionHD AT25XE321D device for use with the SmartBond DA1469x chipset.
