Flexible I/O controllers target x86 systems

The SCH3222, SCH3224, SCH3226, and SCH3227 Super I/O family provides x86 architecture Low Pin-count Bus (LPC) interface and legacy functions. Functions include a programmable clock, a keyboard controller, four serial ports, and programmable wake-up event interface.

The chips have a security key register, GPIOs, an infrared port, a parallel port, a hardware monitor (224, 226, 227) with power supply and temperature monitoring and fan control. They come in industrial and commercial temperature ranges in 84-, 100-, and 144-ball BGA packages. $2.41 to $2.78 ea/5,000.
