Floating-point DSPs up performance 33%

The SHARC 2148x and 2147x series 32-bit floating-point DSPs are said to deliver up to a 33% performance jump over competing devices. They feature 5 Mbits of integrated RAM, a 16-bit-wide SDRAM external memory interface, and an enhanced DMA engine including scatter/gather and delay line DMA.

The chips have twp SPI-compatible ports, a UART, a two-wire interface, 16 PWM channels, and three full-featured timers. They come LQFP176 EPAD and LQFP100 EPAD packages. The 2147x series consume only 363 mW of power typ running at 266 MHz, while the 2148x series deliver up to 33% greater performance running at 400 MHz. (From $7.85 ea/10,000 — samples available now.)
