Flusso launches gas flow sensor modules

Flusso’s plug-and-play gas flow sensor modules deliver easy integration of flow and temperature measurement into new product designs.

Flusso Ltd. has announced four new plug-and-play gas flow sensor electronics (FSE) modules based on two Flusso gas flow sensor product lines—the FLS122, launched in 2022 as the industry’s smallest air velocity sensor with a footprint of 3.5 × 3.5 mm, and the FLS112 series of gas flow and differential pressure (DP) sensors. The gas flow sensor modules are based on a configuration of four temperature sensing elements on a CMOS MEMS die. The new modules deliver a digital numerical output via I2C for easy system integration and communication within new or existing designs. Target markets include medical devices, building automation and industrial applications.

The two FSE-112 modules deliver fully temperature-compensated measurement of mass flow, volumetric flow or differential pressure coupled with real-time temperature readings. One module has a PCB footprint of 22 × 16 mm, and the other measures 22 × 24 mm. Applications include consumer appliances, HVAC and ventilation systems, health and medical and smart building comfort and safety.

These FSE-112 modules provide easy mechanical integration into end products. Features include silicon-MEMS sensor measurements, a reference electronics design with hosted Flusso firmware, fully temperature-compensated readings, an SDK available to modify the application layer and make use of spare microcontroller resources, retrieval of pressure sensor readings via I2C for volumetric gas flow and differential pressure, 10-pin host interface connections with an I2C interface and full compatibility with Flusso’s GUI for quick evaluation.

In comparison, the FSE-122 module enables in situ gas velocity measurements for smaller flow paths or larger ducts. The module is available in two formats: a reduced size module for smaller flow paths, or a two-part extended module with an adapter board that is suited for larger ducts. Applications include temperature and climatic chamber air circulation management, energy management, ventilation control and filter monitoring, consumer appliances and gaming PC and server thermal management.

Features of the FSE-122 module include silicon-MEMs sensor measurement, fully temperature-compensated readings, reference electronics design with hosted Flusso firmware, an SDK to modify the application layer and make use of excess microcontroller resources and 10-pin host interface connections with an I2C interface.

The Flusso modules can directly replace more expensive competitive devices for manufacturers looking to cut production costs for their existing products, said Flusso. The company also provides support for customers looking to include flow calibration processes in their production lines. Sample modules are available now via Flusso’s website.
