Flying prawns demonstrate speed of LTE network

Japanese wireless carrier NTT Docomo showcases shrimp cannon to showcase just how fast their network can go

In a recent advertisement for Japan’s largest wireless carrier, NTT Docomo, two women are shown experimenting with the fastest way to fry shrimp in an attempt to demonstrate the speed of NTT Docomo’s LTE network.

Is the ad campaign working? We’re not entirely sure, but the number of hits to the video is growing, so awareness is definitely being generated. In the video, two women — wearing safety goggles of course — use a shrimp-blasting cannon apparatus to shoot shrimp through flour, oil, breading, and searing flames onto a waiting plate. And all this is accomplished in under 3 seconds!

Check out the video below to watch shrimp fly through flour, egg, breading, and flames to wind up on a plate as fully-cooked shrimp tempura.

Meanwhile, over in the United States, we’re being inundated with wireless network commercials featuring Santa, Mrs. Claus, and James Van Der Beek. Why can’t we come up with something as clever as the shrimp cannon shooter?
