FO temp sensor works to 1,000°C
The Helica fiber-optic temperature sensor is designed for demanding industrial and R&D applications that require measurement stability to 1,000°C. The monolithic glass fiber sensing element is based on a patented chiral grating, which is fabricated by microforming the fiber as it is passed through a miniature heat zone to produce a distinct dip in the transmission spectrum that changes with temperature.
The sensor is accurate to 1% and its nominal sensitivity is 0.01 nm/°C. Standard devices are 300-mm long with a a FC/APC connector, 15-mm sensor/grating length, and the sensor placed 25 mm from the probe tip, but specs can be custom tailored. (Call Gary Weiner for pricing and availability.)
