Bota Systems has launched the SensONE T5, a high sensitivity version of its SensONE force torque sensor. The SensONE T5 features a sensitivity level of 0.05 N/0.002 Nm, which is 3× to 5× higher than the previous sensor.
Targeting collaborative robots (cobots) with small payloads to 5 kg., Bota Systems claims the SensONE T5 is one of the most compact and lightweight sensors with fully integrated electronics currently available on the market. Applications for the SensOne family include rehabilitation with robotic systems, precision assembly, product testing, polishing and grinding, and robotic assisted surgery.
A robotic force torque sensor simultaneously measures force and torque applied to a surface. Measured output signals provide real-time feedback control, enabling robots to perform challenging human-machine interaction tasks. The SensONE T5 is a 6-axis force torque sensor designed for the most challenging applications. It comes in a compact package that is dustproof and water-resistant; it is easy to integrate into robotic arms and requires no mounting adapter.
The sensor presents new use cases for small collaborative payload robots used in sensitive applications from end-of-line quality testing of small parts, precision assembly and delicate tasks such as the routing and installation of electric cables into cabinets.
The sensor provides accuracy exceeding 2.0% with a sampling rate of up to 2000 Hz and temperature drift is negligible, the company said. The sensor offers two communications options, serial USB/RS422 and EtherCAT, and includes software integration with TwinCAT, URcap, ROS, LabVIEW and MATLAB.
Bota Systems will exhibit at the upcoming Robotics Summit & Expo in Boston, May 1-2, and at Automate in Chicago, May 6-9.
