Ford and Telogis Co-Develop Technology to Improve Police Officer and Public Safety

Ford Motor Company and Telogis have partnered to develop a solution built specifically for law enforcement agencies in order to safeguard against hazardous driving, identified as the No. 1 threat to officer and civilian safety. Available in early 2015, the new solution builds on the success of Ford Crew Chief powered by Telogis, the existing commercial vehicle telematics program, but was developed to deliver data that is specific to how police vehicles are driven – for instance when responding to emergencies or while in pursuit and the vehicles' sirens and light bars are activated. Ford Telematics for Law Enforcement provides police departments with the connected intelligence they need to identify opportunities to dramatically improve officer safety and driving while heightening situational and operational awareness.

The introduction of Ford Telematics powered by Telogis for Law Enforcement will give police officers and police leadership the ability to identify and correct patterns of driving behavior that can put departments at higher risk of preventable collisions and other accidents. Building on its existing Ford partnership, the Telogis solution is able to tap a broader array of vehicle data specific to the police driving environment through the new line of Ford Police Interceptor vehicles.

Ford Telematics powered by Telogis – Law Enforcement Edition includes advanced custom dashboards, alerts, scorecards and reporting. Scorecards provide more accurate patterns of driving behavior that are specific to real-world law enforcement scenarios, while dashboards offer insight into key vehicle metrics that can be utilized to improve fleet utilization while reducing costs and vehicle downtime.
