The HMC837LP6CE and HMC840LP6CE full-featured fractional-N PLLs include a wideband, low-noise VCO with auto-calibration subsystem, low-noise phase frequency detector and dividers, and a precision charge-pump. Tunable over 1,025 to 1,150, 2,050 to 2,300, and 4,100 to 4,600 MHz, the HMC837LP6CE delivers a phase noise performance of –230-dBc/Hz figure-of-merit (FOM).
Having an RF bandwidth of 1,310 to 1,415, 2,620 to 2,830, and 5,240 to 5,660 MHz, the HMC840LP6CE offers a phase noise performance of –227 dBc/Hz FOM. Both parts feature a power consumption of 630 mW, an rms jitter of less than 180 fs, and an SFDR of 78 dB typ. The phase detector features cycle slip prevention technology to allow faster frequency-hopping times. Housed in a 40-lead 6 x 6-mm SMT package, the parts also feature built-in digital self-test.
