Free tantalum design tool, model library

The recently enhanced SpiTan III is a design tool for the simulation and modelling of tantalum capacitors. The software now includes features such as the effects of temperature and voltage on DCL leakage current, equivalent circuits of capacitors with parameter values, and the addition of over 80 newly released codes.

Also available is a library of AVX-model tantalum capacitors. It provides case sizes A, B, C, D, E in STEP (Standard for the Exchange of Product Model Data) format and can be downloaded from the company’s Web site. The SelectCap capacitor selection program has also been updated to include all parts released in 2009. (SpiTan III, model library, SelectCap, a free downloads at www.avx.com).
