Frequency clock supports long-duration timing

As part of the TimerBlox family of versatile silicon timing devices, in which an accurate programmable oscillator is combined with precision circuitry and logic, the LTC6991 frequency clock chip offers a time period range of 1 ms to 9.5 hours suiting it for long-duration timing applications, such as intervalometers, watchdog timers, and periodic wakeup timers. It is programmed simply, using one to three resistors, with a maximum frequency error guaranteed to be less than 1.5%.

The LTC6991 offers glitch-free, first-cycle-accurate startup within 500 µs of power, and a reset function is available to truncate the output pulse and hold the output in a high or low state. Offered in ThinSOT and DFN packages, the chip also includes a single-supply operation of 2.25 to 5.5 V, a supply current of 55 to 80 µA, and an temperature range of –40° to 125°C.
