Frequency synthesizer achieves 0.3-ps jitter

Suited for high-speed synchronized applications such as high-end server memory and CPU clock generation, the MAX3678 frequency synthesizer with intelligent dynamic switching employs nine LVPECL clock outputs, a low-noise VCO, and PLL architecture to achieve 0.30 ps rms jitter (12 kHz to 20 MHz) with –60-dBc power-supply noise rejection.

Configured through its pins or I2 C interface, the part generates two different frequencies to provide both a memory-module reference clock and a CPU clock.
