Building on its Bluetooth wireless module portfolio, Fujitsu Component America, Inc. has introduced a new series of Bluetooth 5 beacons and sensor beacons for secure IoT solutions. Based on Fujitsu’s Bluetooth 5 FWM7BLZ20B wireless module, the new beacons leverage the benefits of Bluetooth 5 for reduced power consumption, faster communication speed, and greater LE advertising data communication capacity.
The new beacons– the FWM8BLZ07 and FWM8BLZ07A – are based on Nordic Semiconductor’s nRF52832 SoC, the company’s mid-range device in the nRF52 series. The wireless modules measure 40 x 31 x 12 mm and are packaged in a gray housing that can be used in many applications.
The FWM8BLZ07 beacon features an embedded advertisement function that encrypts data and authenticates and decrypts messages by using an anti-spoofing function known as a message authentication code (MAC), said Fujitsu. The FWM8BLZ07A multi-function sensor beacon includes an embedded temperature, humidity, air pressure, illuminance, 3-axis acceleration, and sound-level sensors. Multiple sensors in different combinations can be used in any Bluetooth environment.
These beacons support remote settings using commands from a central unit. The modules use a single CR2450 coin-cell battery and include a voltage notification function that senses a voltage drop in the battery and allows users to determine the right timing for replacement. Both devices are available now.
