Get your hands on the world’s most amazing robots

The Robots for iPad app features interactive animation and everything you need to know about ‘bots

It's not easy to keep track of all the consumer and research robots in the world. Fortunately, the Institute for Electrical and Electronics Engineers and its publication, IEEE Spectrum, decided to do something about that. They built the educational, interactive app, Robots, so we can keep tabs on the most advanced 'bots on the planet.

Get the scoop on your favorite 'bots

The Robots for iPad app allows you to explore over 100 robots from 19 countries through interactive animations, 360-degree views, and hundreds of photos, videos, and articles. Get your hands on some of the world's most amazing robots, from the classic Furby and the delightful Keepon, to Honda's famed humanoid Asimo, NASA's Curiosity Mars rover, and Google's self-driving car.

This app will keep you up to date with daily robot news. You can listen to audio interviews with leading roboticists, and read detailed specs about each robot. Rate robots from one to five stars, and add the ones you like most to your “favorites” tab for quick access. If you're not sure what something means while learning about a robot, use the app's glossary of robotics terms for help. If you're curious about the making of robots over time, a historical timeline of robotic innovations is also available.

Robots for everyone

Perfect for robot enthusiasts, this state-of-the-art app allows you to review technical data about your favorite 'bots. If you're a beginner, this app makes learning how robots work fun and simple, and will teach you how to get started in robotics. No matter if you're a technology lover, enthusiast, researcher, teacher or student, with its vast amount of original content, this app offers hours of exploration and entertainment.

The Robots for iPad app requires iOS 5.0 or later. The interactive, full screen is not available on first-generation iPads. To download this app, click here. For more information, visit http://robotsapp.spectrum.ieee.org.
