GPON/GE-PON SoCs tackle GbE residential gateways
Devices yield 2.4 Gbits/s with encryption, security, bridging, and routing
Said to be the world’s first family of SoCs for gigabit and gigabit Ethernet passive optical network residential gateway applications, the CX95202 GPON and CX95203 GE-PON ICs target optical network units on the client-side of fiber-to-the-premises. The devices provide full-line-rate performance at 2.4 Gbits/s downstream and 1.25 Gbits/s upstream with complete physical-layer encryption, security, bridging, and routing required to enable QoS in IP video applications.
The PBGA824-packaged chips support four concurrent voice-over-IP channels, three-way calling, and a T.38 fax demodulator. Enhanced routing capabilities combined with deep classification and filtering support to enable superior QoS, robust security, and complete management of a customer premises device from the central office.
The devices come bundled with an open-source-based Linux board support package, software protocol stacks, and support for OEM software stacks. ($29.50 ea/10,000prod qty July.)
