GPUs deliver advanced HD, 3-D capabilities

The AMD 780 series graphics processor is a core platform component for the AMD desktop PC platform code named Cartwheel and notebook PC platform code named Puma, which are both scheduled to launch in Q2. The chips use HyperTransport 3.0 and PIX Express 2.0 technology and are said to deliver unprecedented HD and 3-D capabilities at mainstream PC price points.

The 55 nm process motherboard GPUs offer DirectX 10 game compatibility, support Display Port I/O, and handle the latest formats, including VC-1, MPEG-2 and H.264. The chips support up to twelve USB 2.0 connections and six SATA 2.0 devices. (Contact company for pricing — samples available now.)
