Handheld enclosures save costs for indoor applications

Suited for indoor use, the unsealed (IP41) versions of Datec-Compact handheld enclosures let OEM designers house their electronics more cost-effectively when IP65 protection is not needed. Cases are available in three sizes — S (5.35 x 2.91 x 1.26 in.), M (6.77 x 3.62 x 1.54 in.), and L (8.11 x 4.33 x 1.85 in.) — with a top section that has a large recess for a membrane keypad or product label. Prices for the units start at just $21.39 ea/100.

The cases are manufactured from ASA+PC-FR (UL 94 V-0) in one of two standard colors — off-white (RAL 9002) or lava gray — and assemble with included tamperproof Torx T10 screws. Units can be specified with or without a battery compartment with built-in contacts for charging three 1.5-V AAA or AA cells. The integrated-contacts option offers a complete solution for charging and data transfer. Accessories also include desktop and wall holders, non-slip feet, self-tapping PCB screws, carry cases, and a Torx T10 screwdriver. Customization options include: custom colors, RFI/EMI shielding, CNC machining, lacquering, membrane keyboards, display windows, adhesive foils, plastic and aluminum panels, printing (digital, tampo, and silk-screen), and installation and assembly of accessories.
