The industrial IoT (IIoT) is infiltrating the industrial sector at breakneck speed. HARTING recently unveiled three new starter kits for IIoT applications that it hopes will allow companies to more easily integrate IIoT systems into their manufacturing processes. Each kit contains all of the necessary hardware and software for a basic application, said the company. The kits also give designers the ability to easily customize for their specific applications.
“Many people want to integrate IIoT, but they don’t know where to start or which applications would benefit their operations the most,” said Pat Hogan, senior product manager for HARTING MICA, in a statement. “That’s why we created these kits. Everything you need to prototype a solution is in these kits, and the best part is that it takes less than 10 minutes to get a solution up and running.”
The HARTING MICA CISS Complete IIoT Starter Kit is designed for basic condition-monitoring applications and features a sensor capable of monitoring temperature, vibrations, acoustics, and humidity, among other measurable parameters. The sensor connects to the HARTING MICA, the edge-computing device that processes, computes, and visualizes the data from the sensor, said HARTING.
The HARTING MICA RF-R3000 Complete RFID Starter Kit meets all of the necessary requirements for basic RFID asset-tracking applications, including a pre-installed demo version of HARTING’s Ha-VIS Middleware designed to translate the raw RFID signals into more digestible formats for modern software protocols. It also includes industrial RFID tags, the HARTING MICA RF-R300 reader, two antennas, and all cabling.
The HARTING MICA Basic Ethernet Starter Kit is an optimal solution for networking peripheral devices through Ethernet using commonly implemented communication protocols such as Modbus-TCP or OPC UA and includes all of the necessary cabling and software for Ethernet connectivity, which includes a basic version of the HARTING MICA.
All three starter kits come equipped with the HARTING MICA, the company’s signature industrial gateway device, as well as software designed for each individual kit’s functionality. Each kit also features eight digital GPIO ports and Fast-Ethernet capabilities and can be powered over PoE or standard 12 V/24 V. All three kits are available for purchase now. Prices vary.
