Housed in 16-pin QSOP packages, the MAX13330/MAX13331 automotive stereo headphone amplifiers protect outputs against shorts to battery/ground and load dump up to 45 V. The ICs integrate a short-circuit diagnostic output to facilitate fault analysis, and include ±15-kV ESD protection on the headphone outputs. Based on DirectDrive technology, they eliminate the need for large dc-blocking capacitors.
Features include a single supply voltage from 4 to 5.5 V, a THD+N of 0.009%, a shutdown current of less than 2 μA, a AEC-Q100 Level 2 temperature range from –40° to 105°C, and click-and-pop circuitry. The parts deliver up to 75 mW per channel into an 8-Ω load, 100 mW into a 16-Ω load, or 130 mW into a 32-Ω load. In addition, the gain of the amplifiers can be set internally (–1.5V/V, MAX13330) or adjusted externally (MAX13331). (From $1 ea/1,000 — available now.)
