HellermannTyton has unveiled a heavy-duty tool for stainless-steel cable ties and fixings that is designed for both one- and two-handed operation. The two-way nose piece makes the tool ideal for use with stainless-steel cable ties of up to 16 mm in width.
The ergonomically designed tool allows contractors to achieve a very tight bundle when installing heavy-duty stainless-steel cable ties, which are typically used for securing large power cables in demanding environments such as oil and gas, ship-building, and power-generation industries.
The HDT16 integrates tensioning and cutting mechanisms to facilitate a clean and flush cut while it minimizes the risk of injury to engineers and installers by eliminating any sharp edges. That way, it balances safety with the need for speed and performance.
According to Richard Rands, product manager at HellermannTyton’s U.K. office, while 16-mm-wide stainless-steel cable ties are available, this is the first time that the company has developed a specialist tool for installing them.
Rands added that other suppliers might sell two separate tools for this application. “The multi-functional design of HDT16 makes it suitable for applying to numerous types of cable ties, eliminating the requirement for additional tools and saving contractors considerable costs.”
The HDT16 tool incorporates hardened steel precision components for durability along with a uniquely designed lightweight body. That guarantees consistently high performance in the most challenging environments. Furthermore, its handles are easily adjustable to a range of positions to ensure ease of use for the operator.
