Hi-V optocouplers suit hybrid, electric vehicles

Using reinforced insulation, ACPL-K4xT series digital optocouplers can withstand continuous working voltages to 1140 V, enabling standardized battery management systems and onboard chargers in hybrid and electric vehicles. The parts are qualified to AEC-Q100 Grade 1 stress test requirements for automotive use.

The optocouplers’ low power consumption helps prevent battery management systems from draining vehicle batteries. The devices have no quiescent current and thus do not draw power in the “off” state. Also, current consumption of both the LED and detector IC can be minimized to 1.5 mA/channel for low-speed switching. The single-channel ACPL-K49T operates up to 20 kbaud, while the single-channel ACPL-K43T and dual-channel ACPL-K44T operate up to 1 Mbaud. (From $1.55 ea / 1,000 — available now.)
