High-frequency VCXO reduces phase jitter by 80%

The NV7050SA high-frequency VCXO can obtain frequencies up to 700 MHz — through high-frequency fundamental-mode crystals — without the use of PLL frequency multiplication methods. The result is the reduction of phase jitter as low as 38.0 fs (100 fs max) — claimed by the company to be a reduction of more than 80% when compared to previously available products in this class. The company also claims that the 7.0 x 5.0 x 1.6-mm part occupies just 10% of the volume of comparable VCXOs on the market.

Features include a frequency range of 170 to 700 MHz with a nominal frequency tolerance of ±50 ppm, an absolute pull range of ±100 ppm, and an operating voltage of 3.3 Vdc over –40° to 85°C. Output is available as LVPECL or LVDS. The series is housed in lead-free packaging that meets the requirements for reflow profiling using lead-free solder and are RoHS compliant. (622.08-MHz part, $15 ea/1,000 — 8 to 12 weeks ARO.)
